The connecting Okanagan Valley lakes, at one time in history, were the major transportation route traveled when coming from and arriving in the Okanagan Valley for many travelers in the early days. The S.S. Sicamous was the last and the biggest ever passenger boat built by the CPR (Canadian Pacific Railway).

Since its launch in 1914, many from all over the area including the rich, the trappers, the miners, the forestry workers - all boarded the 228 foot long S.S. Sicamous passenger boat with its 40 staterooms as a major connector link when in the area.

Paved roads arrived in the Okanagan Valley and the Kettle Valley Railway soon developed in the area - all opening up alternative routes to lake travel, ultimately beaching the S.S. Sicamous s in 1951 and today is a tourist attraction for all to remember.
