Park is the main community park
in the heart of the community of Vernon, BC in the North Okanagan
Valley. It is a very well maintained park with many services and
amenities attracting many who enjoy skateboarding, jogging, lawn
bowling, rollerblading, birdwatching, picnicking, special events,
people watching and biking.
The 13.5 hectare day use park is a central gathering
place in the community. The green space park includes a children's
playground, waterpark, walking paths, skateboard park, outdoor
bandshell, playing fields, grass lawns, two tennis courts and
a running track.
The network of walking paths in the park is a
good way to explore the ponds and flower gardens. Along the walking
paths one will find sitting benches, picnic tables and shelters.
The highlights of the walking tour include the bird ponds, the
flower clock, the Japanese and Rose Gardens.
Polson Park was established in 1908 and is a
mainstay landmark in the community. Not only is the park a site
for activities but it is home to many special events. Located
in the park is the Lawn Bowling Club, the Interior Space and Science
Centre, the Arts Council and Vernon Heritage Hall.
How to Get to Polson
Park:
Travel Highway #97 north into the community of
Vernon, BC in the North Okanagan valley. At the main intersection
of Hwy #6 and #97 is Polson Park.
